Many of us don’t understand the value of physical rest and relaxation. It’s non negotiable. We often forget to get enough sleep, take breaks during the day, allow ourselves time to breathe and get refreshed. We need to rest so our energy can get renewed, we get to be healthy and enjoy our everyday lives. Did I forget to mention…We also need rest for our souls just as much as our bodies do.

Recently, i fought worry and anxiety constantly and i was often tired. The moment my head touches the bed i find myself fallen asleep immediately but yet i fight the sleep cos my brain keeps reminding me that I have a lot to do.
Thankfully, i fell asleep immediately i got home today, without even taking off my shoes, i tried fighting the sleep as usual but lost and my girls refused to wake me up. I slept for close to 4 hours and when i woke up i realised my soul, spirit and body was at peace. I am so thankful to my girls for not waking me up. Am so relaxed and ready to work now. Am thinking straight now and am not fatigued. #powerofrest…

Many of us carry so much weight and burdens our shoulders and we forget to laugh not to talk of rest. When we fail to realise that we can’t do anything without God and not of our own strength, we get frustrated. We are supposed to trust God to solve our problems while we rest in him. Most times we say ” I trust God and yet we worry all the time” How much of God do we really trust? How much of Him do we really rely on?
Lately, i have learned to enter the rest of God. It doesn’t mean i don’t fall out of his rest sometimes it simply means that when i do, i feel miserable and restless. So i try to constantly be in his rest just so i can have eternal peace that passeth all human understanding.
The moment we understand what peace is like, we can’t afford to live without it. Peace comes only when we learn to rest in the Lord. Ever witnessed pain, strive, anxiety before? Can you still remember what it felt like? Imagine a situation where you don’t have to live in any of those anymore but rather live in peace and happiness. The joy is unfathomable. You would not want to leave the peace you found right?
God’s peace and rest are always to every believer. We do not have to live every day stressed out, upset, our weights keeps dropping, always worried, angry, exhausted. We deserve to live in peace and rest well.
Hebrews 4:1 “Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”
One way of learning how to rest is by identifying the things that upsets us. Most of the things that bothers us are not far fetched. Children school fees, family upkeeps, office problems, projects, colleagues that talks too much, walking to a grocery store only to discover they don’t have what you need. Many of us don’t do well under pressure, some of us function properly when we walk at our own pace. But the society demands from us won’t allow us work or walk at our own pace.

It’s time we put our hands up, stomp our feet on the ground and say ” I need to rest, i cant do this anymore”, and in that moment, your rest begins. Get some rest, you deserve it!.
