“How much of a reality are the things we perceive?
According to Barrie Davenport in Untangling reality and perception “Perception is the lens through which we view reality: ourselves, others and the world around us. However, the lens often gets confused with what is being viewed through it”
We often confuse and deny our perception. Your perception is your reality. We mistake how we understand things for the way that they really are. Our thoughts and feelings seem real to us, so we conclude that they must be true. If they are positive thoughts then that’s a good thing. If our perception are positive then positive reality will not be far fetched. But what if they are negative, including even our most deeply held ideas and beliefs about ourselves, about others and the world, what happens to our reality?
We all perceive reality different, according to our unique perception of that reality, from our personal position of awareness. It may be surprising for you to find out that our assumptions and prejudgements guide our perceptions, interpretations, and recall far more than may be envisioned.
It’s important to note that how you choose to perceive things is how they come across to you. I believe that your power to choose how to perceive things makes them appear the way they do. Your belief structure determines your perception which then ultimately determines how you respond to events.
You can choose to examine your beliefs and then choose to change them. It all begins with a choice!. You are what you can see, so let’s choose to see the greatness In us and in others. We are all diamonds in the rough….Only the ones with the right perception dig in”

I absolutely love this post! It kind of goes back to that “what you think about, you bring about ” mentality. It’s very difficult to not let negative thoughts get carried away sometimes, but a closer look at the accuracy of my perception often helps. Anyway, this is a good reminder to stay positive and a great article!

So absolutely true- it’s how people can view the same event in so many different ways. I recently went through cancer treatment…there was nothing I could do to change that except how I looked at it. I found so much positive seeing how people prayed for us and rallied around us that I found it to be a blessing in so many ways
Am sorry you had to go through the treatment but be rest assured that you are healed. Healing is our right and inheritance,we have that because Jesus has paid for it and we can boldly say we are healed at every point in time. A man’s will to live will save him even when he is sick. Am glad you saw positively even when everything seemed to be fallen apart. That’s the spirit that achieves result. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are healed in Jesus name amen.
