What would be your response if i asked you, Who are you?” Would you first list the things you do and the roles you play in life? Would you say, ” I am a teacher,” ” I am a doctor,” “I am a blogger,” ” I am a mother and a wife,”? Would you also tell me where you live, what your hobbies and interests are or what you want to do in the nearest future? Any of these answers would describe what you do, but none of them would be able to tell me who you are.

As a child of God, one of the important realities is for you to understand who you are in Christ, your identity in Him. Your understanding of who you are in Christ is vitally important. When people receive Jesus Christ by faith as their personal saviour, God sees them as made right with Him and as “in” Jesus. Being in Christ is not about what you do, is about who you are. It’s not about how you view yourself, but about how God sees you. It’s not about your activity, it’s about your identity. It’s not about your “do” it’s about your “who”. It’s about what you believe.
I strongly doubt if the daughter of my president were to visit Lagos, if anyone would ask for a list of what she could do. She would have immediate access and favour because of who she was. If this dynamics works with humans, just imagine how much more valuable it is to be a child of God. But, if my Presidents daughter doesn’t know she is, she won’t be able to use her identity to her advantage. Get the picture? This same scenario applies to believers who do not know their identity in Christ. They would never be able to access their rights and privileges.

We need to be contious of who we are in Christ and who we are outside Christ. By ourselves, we are nothing, we have nothing, and we can achieve nothing of value.
Colossians 2:10 ” And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power”  In Christ we have everything he promised in His word. The Bible teaches us so many wonderful truths about who we are and what we stand to gain.
We must not allow other people’s opinion to determine our value.
You are precious and valued in His sight.”
