Recently, I have learnt some important lessons about how I live my life, how and who I choose to trust, how I want my relationship with the Lord to be. How I want to raise my children, how I want to love ect…..
Sometimes, life throws us off balance and we forget the things that matters and strive for the things that don’t matter. I love to focus my strength and energy on my work and often forget to relax and enjoy.
We will always have work to do, which means we will have to choose to take a break and enjoy life sometimes. We need to learn to strike a balance when it comes to choosing how we spend our time. How we spend time with our loved ones, children, parents, God, studying his words and reflecting on them. There are some situations especially where our children and loved ones are concerned, that we will never have the opportunity to relive again. If we do not choose to embrace and enjoy them when we can, we will reach the end of our lives and be filled with regrets. The only way we can avoid having regrets tomorrow is to make better choices today and NOW
Whether we like it or not, someday everything will come to an end. A time will come when there will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. Everything you collected, be it treasured or forgotten will be passed to someone else. Your wealth, fame and power will collapse to irrelevance. What you owned or what you owed will no longer matter. All the grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear as well as your hopes, ambitions, plans, dreams will expire. The wins, losses, that once seemed so important will all fade away. It won’t matter where you came from nor your skin colour at the end of the day. Ugly or beautiful will become inconsequential.
What then will matter you ask? How will your life be measured? What you gave, your significance to the people who live around you, what you taught, who you inspired, the lives you destroyed out of negligence and ingenuity, your act of integrity, compassion, courage, or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter will not be your competence but your character.
“There’s always someone out there viewing and recording your life deeds from afar, you just can’t afford to do things wrong ..”
Not how many people you knew but how many will feel a void when you’re gone. The memories of you that live in those who loved you. How you will be remembered if you will be remembered at all.
” Do you want to live a live that will matter? Then, know that it won’t happen by accident or because situation or circumstances permits it but because you chose to make the right choice.”
You only live once…Make it count!!

Such a great post! It’s so true… we need to choose our priorities carefully x
Yes we need to and at all times. Thank you for sharing with us. Am glad you dropped by.
Thanks for this post. You made me think of two things. First was rest and play. Rest and play are important parts of a healthy life; one that is resilient and joyful. The problem is, in North America, exhaustion is a status symbol and play is goofing off; something you have to earn.
The second thing that came to mind was a favourite Ted talk. Check it out, it’s less than six minutes. http://www.ted.com/talks/matthew_o_reilly_am_i_dying_the_honest_answer?utm_source=tedcomshare&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=tedspread
Sure Braddahr, i will check it out right away. Thank you for sharing with us. At least i know what happens in North America now without having to go there..Smiles..
Well… I’m in Canada and you and your family would be welcome to visit.
Sure, we will make plans for that by God’s grace. Thank you for the warm invitation. I really appreciate it.
Any time!
Good post 🙂
