We are created in God’s image and likeness, but most importantly for a  relationship with him. Being in that relationship is the only thing that will ultimately satisfy our souls. But it’s so sad that most people don’t think nor believe their satisfaction in life will come from God. They rather choose to believe it’s in their career, their marriage, their children, their spouses, their businesses, their relationship, their religion, ect.
Until we come to know God, we would have many wonderful experiences, but we will never be fulfilled much less fulfilling our Purpose for life. We will end up been used for some noble purposes, but not the one we were ultimately designed for, not the one through which we will find the most fulfillment. 
Very often I ask myself these questions, what is my purpose here on earth, why was I created?, Why didn’t my mother choose to abort me, when I was just heamorrage?, What’s the will of God for my life?, Why is it important for me to consult God before making that decision or taking that step?, How do I live and not just exist?, How do I fulfil my purpose for life? I ask these questions so I don’t loose focus or get it wrong. I believe one mistake can be disastrous, we may choose to forget after forgiving ourselves but the scars will constantly be a reminder. So, I want to always get it right.
A relationship with God is the only thing that will quench our soul’s longing. Jesus Christ said in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” Until we come to know God, we will be hungry and thirsty in life. We will try to “eat” and “drink” all kinds of things to satisfy our hunger and thirst, but yet they will remain.
in Ephesians 2:10 the apostle Paul says, “We are God’s handi­work, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” God calls you to a purpose—to do good works—“tailor-made” just for you. And He gifts you with all you need to accom­plish that purpose. God doesn’t play games with our lives. He wants us to reach out full potential, and He provides the means for us to discover how and that is through “His Word”. He  says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you”-Psalm 32:8
If you are unclear about God’s specific purpose for your life, spend ample time in this first month of the New Year asking Him to reveal His plans for you. Write your answers to these questions: What is your passion? What has brought you great joy in your work? How could you best serve others by fully using your God-given gifts, talents, and skills?
Ask God to prepare you to fulfill the purpose to which He has called you. Your outlook on life is sure to soar as you achieve the unique purpose God has set for you. And as you pray, these additional steps will help you identify your specific God-given purpose:

  1. Ask God to help you discover his universal will for you
  2. Ask God to show you his specific will for your life
