Have enough?

Have you got barely enough? Just got enough? Have more than enough? Is it just me hearing this, a friend asked me today as we talked about choosing more than enough over just enough. Your life will constantly move towards what you’re thinking about all the time. If you’re always thinking thoughts of lack, you will lose sight of abundance even if it’s staring you in the face. If you’ve been under pressure for a long time and have difficulty making ends meet, it’s easy to develop a limited mindset. If you’ve been told you’re not good enough all your life, it won’t be rocket science if you decide to be afraid of taking any leap out of those downgrading words.

Our words are so powerful that they can tear down walls or build up cities. You can’t go around thinking negative thoughts and expects positive results. It never happened in the past, it most certainly won’t start now. If this is where you are now, I completely understand, but you’ve got to get out. You ask, “Whitney, how do I get out?”, change your thoughts. Think positive thoughts and speak positive thoughts. If you can see it in your mind, you can see it to reality.

Let’s examine the children of the Israelites in Exodus 1-13. They had been in slavery for many years. That’s what I call the land of barely enough. They barely had enough of anything. You could say, they barely got by through life. They had to endure, survive, exist rather than live. And, one day, God in his infinite mercy brought them out of slavery and took them into the wilderness. The wilderness became the land of just enough.

There, their needs were met and supplied, but they got nothing extra. All they had was just enough for the day. It says their clothes never won out for forty years. I’m pretty sure they were happy and grateful at that moment. I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly want to wear what I’m wearing now for the next forty years. If you can, please leave a comment in the comment box below. If there’s a need for me to, I promise I won’t complain, but, that’s not my own idea of abundance. It certainly wasn’t God’s either.

Where you are, isn’t who you are.

God eventually took them into the Promised Land. That was the land of More Than Enough. Their food and supplies were in an abundance. Their bundles of grapes were so large that two grown men had to carry them-” Numbers 13:23″. It’s called “the land flowing with milk and honey”. Flowing means it didn’t stop. It never ran out. There was always abundance for them and to them. And, that’s where God is taking you and me. Sounds too good to be true right? Well, don’t hold your breath ?.

Now, I know you may have heard this over and over again from friends, preachers, and other faithfuls. Understand, that hearing isn’t the same as believing. What you hear isn’t enough to change unless you believe the words spoken. You may be in the land of barely enough right now. You don’t know when or how you’re going to make it through next week. Don’t worry. God has not forgotten about you. If he didn’t fail the Israelites, he certainly won’t start with you.

Have you seen the lilies of the field? They don’t worry about what to eat or what to wear. All they need to do is fly and trust their creator for the rest. God can take care of you. Do your part then trust him to his. And, stop playing God. You may be in the of just enough, with no extra, nothing to accomplish your dreams. God is saying, ” I got your back. I created you to be in good health and prosper, even as your soul prospers”.

Where you are now are seasons. They are tests of life. They are not permanent. Never put your stakes down. God’s got a promised land for you. He’s got a place of abundance for you. A place of more than enough. All you’ve got to do is trust and believe him. How he’s going to work it out is not your business.

Change your thoughts.

If you’re in the land of barely enough, please don’t make your tent there and settle in. That is where you are, not who you are. It’s your location, not your identity. You’re the child of a king. The child of the Most High God. No matter what happens, no matter what situation you find yourself in, never lose your winner’s mentality. Keep reminding yourself every day as you go about your daily life.

Quit telling yourself, ” business is low, projects are falling short, challenges are overwhelming, I’ll never get out”. God owns it all. With him, you can never go wrong. One touch of his favour can blast you out of any bad season you find yourself in and put you into the place of “More than enough”. And, never forget, “You’re always good enough for God”.

Blessings and love
