“I know, I know”..Most people don’t like hearing about this (believers inclusive) especially when that which is desired is yet to manifest. Still I’m gonna talk about it.
The Apostle Paul taught that “faith is the substance [assurance] of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is a principle of action and power. Whenever we work toward a worthy goal, we exercise faith. We show our hope for something that we cannot yet see.
But this is not just what I want to talk about. I want to discussWHY DOES GOD STRETCH OUR FAITH?…..
Lately, I spend several days a week lifting heavy weights and doing all sorts of crazy new exercises in the gym. Sometimes, I forget to stretch and end up with muscles so tight I can barely walk two days later( All in my mind…I barely know where a gym is….Smiles).  Lately, I’ve found myself in God’s gym—lifting heavy spiritual weights and doing all manner of uncomfortable new exercises. I don’t have to worry about the stretching part. He’s doing that too. God’s stretching is sometimes as painful on our souls as working over a sore muscle( For those of you that gym).
Apparently, I’m not the only one going through God’s stretching. I ask the question, “Is God stretching anybody else, or is it just me?” I know that behind the cutsie quips there are folks who are walking by faith as God makes us, shakes us, breaks us and moulds us into the image of Christ. So how do we best respond?
How many of you know that stretching an “old” muscle can be rather painful? Especially if you are not very flexible.  I caught a revelation that our faith, our capacity, our spiritual muscles are like natural muscles. The more you stretch your muscles, the further you can reach, the faster you can run, the more weight you can carry without feeling as tired.
In the supernatural, the more we pray, the more time and money we use to serve God, the more we step out in cell groups to prophesy and to pray corporately, the more we take the courage to invite friends and relatives to attend services, the greater our faith and capacity will grow.
As you read this, I’d like to suggest to you that it is likely that God is stretching your faith because, just like physical stretching, spiritual stretching is not easy and He wants us to push beyond our normal level of comfort. And that is where you will begin to see growth and progress like never before.
When God stretches your faith, it’s either He wants you to do something or stop doing something. It’s either he wants you to say something or stop saying what you are saying.  Its either He wants us to give something or sell something.  It’s also possible He wants us to start something or end something.
Hebrews 11:6 says,
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
So, when you notice God is beginning to stretch your faith…Do me a favour “Don’t forget to stretch along with Him and listen while you are at it, there is something He wants from you. God bless you.
