” Why are you looking at me in such a manner? Like I do not matter?”
” Well, guess what? You are wrong. I do matter, my opinion counts. I am a man of principle, I’ve got pride you know! and what I say must stand.”
” I really don’t care what they all think of me, am doing what I like, as long as it makes me happy.”
“What about what God thinks?”
” What about the one you are hurting?”
” Don’t they matter?”
“Why basking in your Ego?”
“Let it go. Swallow your pride.”
” It won’t hurt to show a little care, neither would you drop dead if you admit you were wrong.”
” You won’t stop being you.”
” I won’t. I don’t care anymore.”
Have you ever had such conflicts with yourself? Well, I have and the good thing is I was able to conquer my ego and am in a better place now. It wasn’t easy but I guess that’s what maturity and growing up is all about.
Everyone has their own inner demon and guardian angel. Which one do you often allow to lead?
Oftentimes, we are so scared to listen to what the one who hurt us have to say. We feel we’ve been hurt one too many times, like we suck a punch all the time. We feel if we listen, they just might make us believe them and thereby deflate our ego and pride.

Lost Love; Hate; Pain; Jealousy; Anger; Betrayal; Confusion; Mis-understanding; often pours down in heaps, like rain and we tend to loose ourselves. The moment this happens, our ego rises in defense and pride sets in. There are many dimensions to life, ego is one of the big factors that consumes majority of the human essence.
I have come to understand that ego works hand in hand with insecurity both at professional level and personal level. People with fear will always guard their ego as well as self interest, it becomes obvious, they will tune their brains and mind accordingly, so that they keep reality at bay and live in self defined -“Maya.”

Oftentimes, people say it is the passion that drives human to do something, it is only in limited cases and that too with high intensity. Whereas ego is broader, runs in every human being and more pervasive. For passionate people, their internal drive is so strong, they can run on their internal strength for quite some time and refuel themselves when their batteries are down. But, ego requires lot of external support.
Eventually, at one stage even passion will give up and turn into ego, looks out for external energy.-“Saturday Writer”.
Everyone has some sort of ego and we all want to prove ourselves and to others that our opinions are superior to theirs. We end up creating our own niche path, believe it, pursue it then make others follow it. I believe ego and success are just not compatible. Growing up, I have learnt that when my head begins to swell( probably when am praised for doing something right, recognised for a job well done), my ego exceeds its capacity. The me “again” attitude comes up and I become less effective. The moment you allow your ego to constantly rule, you stop getting things done and people ends up running away from you.
No one likes to hang around a proud and conceited person. Do you? I don’t think so. Most people are overly familiar with that sly voice in their heads telling them what they can’t do instead of what they can. That voice is the sound of your ego speaking. More often than not, ego convinces you, that you have to work alone so that you may appear strong and not stupid. It tells you that you already know what needs to be done and prevents you from asking for help when needed. It leaves you broken for every little mistake that you have done in the past. It reminds you of all the haunting and embarrassing moments in your life thereby preventing you from moving forward.

Philippians 2:1-10″ So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, .
When our pride is hurt, our ego is in danger, our ears don’t seem to function anymore. When we are puffed up with injured pride we jump to conclusions; invent all kinds of supposed intentions and motivations on others’ part and become very suspicious. When our pride is injured we become unreasonable and vulnerable to Satan’s manipulation.

We need to let go of our pride,be humble and deflate our ego. I know letting go of our Ego is a very difficult thing to do but we have to. Am not asking you to let go of every sense of reasoning you’ve got but rather let go of all that gives birth to egoistic tendency and pride.
Accept that you are imperfect and so is everyone else. Be willing to acknowledge and accept the Grace of God made readily available for your imperfect state on a daily basis. Always remember that a proud heart is empty of grace.
It pays to be humble.
God loves you just the way you are. Stop expecting so much from other people and start accepting them the way they are”
