I think I have forgotten how to breathe. Or, at least, I have forgotten how to breathe properly. Most of us have as well literally.
Perhaps it is a sign of how out of sync our lives are that so many of us have forgotten how to breathe. When I pay attention to my own breathing, I notice that my breaths are often shallow breaths. Often times I notice I hold my breathe for too long without even knowing am holding my breathe. Subconsciously my brain is so preoccupied with worries, anxieties, thoughts, that it forgets to “EXHALE” and when it remembers, the breath goes down to my throat, or somewhere in my upper chest, and comes out quickly, immediately followed by another breath.”scary right? That’s what some of us go through on a daily basis…It’s like walking with your heart in your mouth, risky and painful.
It is not that I am short of breath. This is how I have learned to breathe now. It is as if a constant stress and pressure is with me, perhaps the curse of what, some time ago, I called the ” The disease of being busy”.
“We have to learn to let go and breathe again”.
Many of us are afraid to be who we are, we are afraid to show our real selves, we barely know who we are anymore. We keep telling ourselves “we will be strong” but we just can’t. We often try our hardest not to cry, but the tears just starts flowing from inside.
Well, I don’t know about you. But for me am asking for a change of heart, a change of mind, a changed life, find me,myself and I.
It’s time to EXHALE”
One thing that has helped me along is meditation. I started not so long ago and I’m amazed at how better I breath when I sit and simply focus on breathing! It does wonders for the over-active imagination as well–from which I also suffer. 🙂
