A wise man once said; Before you can discover what God has called you to do, or reach your full potential, you’ve got to find a lasting basis on which to build your self-worth. Every one of us is moulded by the words we’ve heard and in most cases, it’s usually the ones we shouldn’t have heard. Have you heard of the sceneries where a mother of two was asked if she’d still have children if she had to do it over again? Sure, she responded, “just not the same two!” You smile right? Well, many of us grew up with words that made us feel less and unimportant, unqualified and unwanted. Those were the words that formed our shadow beliefs.Where ever you are today, look at your beliefs, they got you there.!

Dorothy Law Nolte writes: if a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn, if he lives with hostility, he learns to fight, if he lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy, if he lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty, if he lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. If he lives with encouragement, he learns to be confident, if he lives with fairness, he learns justice, if he lives with security, he learns to have faith, if he lives with approval, he learns to like himself, if he lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.

If you know deep inside that you are good and better and that where you are isn’t where you should be, you need not articulate them, it becomes the constant in your life. Just as your belief can move you forward, your shadow-beliefs can hold you back as well. I am pretty sure you are wondering what your shadow beliefs are? They are the tiny little voice in your head that tells you are not able, not worthy, or that you will never make it. “What are your shadow beliefs?”

Today I challenge you to bring them out into the light and expose them to God’s word. Don’t let them control you, or decide your future. Refuse to translate any thought into a word if it contradicts what God says about you. Believe me, you can’t speak death over your dreams and expect to see them come to life. Ephesians 1:4 “He hath chosen us…. before the foundation of the world”. Even if nobody showed you or valued you in any way, value yourself and remember this verse and how it dispels all rejection by letting you know that God chose you. God called you to be His child, handcrafted for a specific purpose, chosen to be part of his body here on earth at precisely this time and in this precise location! On my blog! wow!..smiles.

Remember that you are not just any piece of wood that fell through a crack and God said, “Oh, alright let’s go ahead and add it to the house.” Hell no! You came pre-cut to fit a particular place that nobody else but you can fill. So stop trying to be like somebody else and start flying before you fall away. I am sure that if you give up being who you are just so you can be like them, you’ll end up being somebody God doesn’t need you to be. Think and believe that regardless of what you like or dislike about yourself, you gotta be okay, because God chose you.
