Only God deserves our worship

History has a beginning, but the only one without a creation story is God because he created the beginning. I want you to see history as a line, and at the start of the line, we have the beginning, and at the end of that line, we have the end. And each day, you and I and the whole world are moving towards the end.

The bible tells us this very clearly the details are not always clear, but the general thrust of time is clear and the movement of time and the movement of history and the movement of prophecy is all moving along one line. From the beginning to the end we are not going around in circles, we are all moving along the line. And on this line,
is history, prophecies, that are thrusting us closer to the mark of the beast. Which will be introduced by the antichrist.

We see this in revelation 13. Five times the people of the earth are described to be doing one thing. In revelation 13. the people of the earth are not described to be doing anything else than -worshiping. The issue of worship brings us to the age-old issue of idolatry. The man of sin will aim to be the idol
in the eyes of men. He will be a man that will demand worship.
Taking his mark will be a declaration of worship. The son of perdition will be an idol, a savior for some people.

”Don’t you think the world is ready for the son of perdition?”

We often sit in front of the television and watch movies. We watch sports, we see many things on the television, and we love them. Also,
there are some musicians that we love, sports people that we also love. I am not saying that we should hate them. It is not wrong to love the sport or the sportspeople, but it has gotten to a point where many people worship these artists or these athletes.

There are basketball players that people bow to when they slam dunk. There are soccer players that all the fans always bow to when they score. These things leave you wondering, how have we gotten to this stage in the world. People now worship other human beings. You see concerts full of tens of thousands of people chanting a person’s name, exalting that person, uplifting that person literally. Thousands of people, screaming someone’s name. Weird right?

Do you still think this isn’t worship?”

Yes, it is.

Look at the lyrics of a song we sing in praise and worship to God. For example, look at that song let your living water flow- ”Jesus, Jesus Jesus.” All the lyrics does is exalt the name of Jesus. Today, we see people singing praise and exalting other humans.
It is idolatry.

You see celebrities walking on the street, and people faint at the sight of them. Two thousand years ago, idols were graven images and massive statues that people would bow down to
and worship, but the devil moves with time.

We are now too sophisticated to be bowing down at some wooden statue. So modern-day idols for us are celebrities. As Christians, now are not the time to sleep. We shouldn’t think that the plan of the man of sin will come only after the rapture or sometime later in life.

In 2 Thessalonians 2, the bible was talking about a particular man
called the man of sin. He was also called the son of perdition. The bible says that this man will come in the last days. He will start to be operational in the last few days. We need to get this clear so that we
will have an understanding of when this man of sin will appear

Verse 3 says- Let no man deceive you by any means. For that day shall not come except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed- the son of perdition. This man will be revealed to the world. Everyone will see this man in action.

What will this man of sin do? Verse 4 continued – who
opposeth and exalts himself above God or that is worshiped as God and sits in the temple, showing himself that he is God. This man will speak blasphemy. He will position himself as God so that people will be able to worship him.

When will this man start his work? When will people start working for him? Is it after the coming of Christ or now?
2 Thessalonians 2 verse 7 gave us the time when this man of sin will start his work.
We must be truthful to ourselves. The spirit of the antichrist is already
amongst us. He is already working, and we can’t see it.

The spirit of idolatry is exalting a person to the position only for God, and we can see it in the world at work today. It’s as if the spirit of the antichrist and the spirit of idolatry are preparing people to worship the man of sin when he finally reveals himself to take center stage in the world.

It will be easy to worship the beast because of what he has started doing right now. You already see people worship their fellow human beings, and turn them into God. They are making them take the position of God.

God says that no one should ever worship other Gods but, people are now worshiping other people. The world has moved from worshipping artistic objects to worshiping human beings. Today, people see celebrities and feel as though they have been touched by God.
They place them higher than God.

This is the spirit of the antichrist working effectively. If you choose to close your eyes to these things happening in the world. If you choose to close your eyes to these revelations of the antichrist in the world today, there is no way you will not be consumed.

This is the time for us to open our eyes, and stay awake. We must not love the world, because if we do we will be consumed by the lust of the world and it will be hard to follow Christ. God wants us to stand firm in the truth. He wants us to be able to discern the
truth and hold onto it.

I often hear people saying that when the antichrist comes,
they will run from him and not obey him. It is funny because these people don’t know that the spirit of the antichrist
is already here. This issue of idolatry is a big one.
You need to know that in the eyes of God, you are just as valuable as the person you are putting on a pedestal.

Only God deserves our praise and worship.
